Computer science leader joins state strategy group

Alexandra Holter, Bloomington Public Schools computer science coordinator, will represent the Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA) on the newly created MDE Computer Science Education Working Group. Holter is the chapter co-president for CSTA Minnesota.

The working group is made up of about 20 members statewide, including teachers, high school students and representatives from education and computer science organizations. The group is tasked with developing a strategic plan for long-term and sustained growth of computer science education in all Minnesota K-12 school districts and charter schools. Group members will meet monthly starting in October and the strategic plan will be presented to state lawmakers in March of 2024.

“This position offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the future of computer science education in our state, ensuring all Minnesota students receive a relevant and comprehensive computer science education,” Holter says.
