Kennedy Latinx Club Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

Kennedy High School’s Latinx Club celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month at their school, where nearly half the student population is Hispanic and Latinx students. Students created and displayed posters with pictures and information about Hispanic countries in Eagle Hallway on Friday, Oct. 13. They also sold food and drinks as a way to fundraise and grow interest in their club. Their goal was to raise awareness of Hispanic heritage and belonging and to strengthen pride in the Latinx community at the school.

Nineteen students are involved in Kennedy’s Latinx Club this year. The student-led club is a place where students of all ethnicities come together and share their traditions and culture. Members of the club promote, celebrate their heritage with the school community through networking events, celebrations and fundraisers.

Hispanic Heritage Month is observed each year from Sept. 15 through Oct. 15 to celebrate the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors emigrated from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.
