Meet the Principal

Being a parent myself, I understand how precious your children are to you. You want your children to be in an environment that fosters optimum development academically and socially. As I began my education career, one thing became quite clear: In order for students to be successful, they need to feel safe. Once children feel safe, they will be more willing to take risks and learning will take place. Children need opportunities to wrestle with problems and learn how to keep going when they make mistakes or things become difficult. With this in mind, I pledge to treat all Olson children as if they are my very own.

Olson is one of ten K-5 elementary schools in Bloomington, with wonderful teachers who receive excellent staff development and use researched-based curriculum and best practices to facilitate learning. Each child receives individual attention to meet his/her needs. We pride ourselves on focusing on each individual’s strengths and areas in need of improvement to help them develop into lifelong learners.

As a community, Olson families recognize that strong parent support and involvement is a key to their children’s success, and we offer many opportunities to volunteer in our school.
