I have a Master’s degree in Elementary Education from Minnesota State University-Mankato. I majored in Elementary Education and minored in Art Education at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Studying overseas in Grantham, England at Harlaxton College was definitely the spark that started my passion for world travel and adventure.
Experience: I’ve taught at Olson Elementary since 1999. Prior to Olson, I taught three years at a private school called TesseracT, one year as an intern at Normandale Elementary, a year as a substitute teacher in the St. Paul Public Schools, and began my teaching career as an assistant teacher at a Chicago Montessori school. For 20 summers, I have had the amazing opportunity to work for an international learning company called Quantum Learning Network teaching accelerated learning and life skills at summer camps called SuperCamp. I taught academic strategies, communication skills, team building, and guided students through challenging activities such as: ropes courses, white water rafting, rock climbing, mountain hiking, orienteering, and canyoning. Some of my favorite places I've worked have been: Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Switzerland.
Family: When I'm not teaching, I mostly love to spend time with my wonderful husband, Steve, our hilarious son, Luke (5/1/05) and our smiley daughter, Kate (4/5/07). We also love to telemark and cross country ski, canoe, camp, hike, travel, read, spend time with family and friends, and go to movies when we can find a babysitter!
